The Human Intelligence Symbol, is a free stamp.
Use it to declare creative content as entirely made with human intelligence.
What it means
If you see T.H.I.S. on someone's work, it means:
- The content is entirely made with human intelligence.
- Generative AI tools were not used to create the content.
- Generative AI tools were not consulted while making the content.
- It was created with methods commonly available prior to modern AI tooling (i.e. prior to 2010).

Our Beliefs
We believe that generative AI tools are incredible and powerful. We also believe that they have led to much confusion about whether content is human-made or AI-generated. T.H.I.S. is meant to empower creative humans to proudly mark their work as entirely human-made.
Perfectly Imperfect
We know there are gray areas when it comes to generative AI. Proper use of T.H.I.S. will not always be clear-cut. Further, there are people, and AI agents, who will lie or mislead others. Still, we believe that it is worth making this stamp available. We will work to continuously improve our guidance around proper use of T.H.I.S. We are not equiped to enforce any rules ourselves, but we encourage society to find creative ways of discouraging abuse and misuse of this stamp.
Free-to-use
T.H.I.S. can be freely used, without restriction, on works of creative content. See License for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions
What constitutes generative AI use?
If any part of your content was generated with an AI tool and copied directly, or used verbatim, that content is prohibited from displaing the T.H.I.S. stamp.
Can I use AI for research while working on content, and still use the stamp?
This is a gray area, but generally NO. The content should come from your human mind without assistance from AI tools.
We think you should use your best judgement. If in doubt, omit the stamp and/or explicitely disclose the extent to which AI tools were used.
What distinguishes an AI tool from other software?
If the software uses neural networks or other machine learning techniques to generate text, images, sounds, or other media, it is considered an AI tool, and is prohibited from displaying T.H.I.S. stamps. Obvious examples include Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, as well as generative AI features built into Google Docs, Google Slides and Photoshop.
If the software uses classical algorithms that were widely available prior to 2010, such as a dictionary-based spell check, that is allowed.
What happens if an author or website uses the stamp improperly?
We do not currently have any enforcement mechanisms, but we are considering tracking and publishing a list known violators.
